A new law – the Employment Relations (Flexible Working) Act 2023 – came into force on April 6 2024, meaning employers need to update their flexible working policy to ensure it’s still fit for purpose.

Under the new law employees can request flex from day one of employment, so it makes sense to review recruitment practices alongside your flexible working policy to ensure you are on the front foot when it comes to recruiting flexibility.

We have teamed up with Shoosmiths to offer you two collaborative products to ensure you are delivering on new legal obligations, and to help you successfully unlock the benefits of greater flex.

Shoosmiths and Flexibility Works

Package One

  • Legal review of your existing flexible working policy to ensure it reflects employers new legal obligations, delivered by a qualified employment lawyer from Shoosmiths.*
  • 30-minute follow-up call with Shoosmiths to discuss the changes and to help troubleshoot any flex-related workforce issues you are experiencing.
  • 60-minute call with a senior member of the Flexibility Works team to review your current recruitment practice and discuss best practice in recruiting flexibly.
  • Resources, including best practice checklist and example wording for recruitment adverts from Flexibility Works.

Cost £700 (exc VAT)

Package Two

  • Create a new flexible working policy, delivered by one of Shoosmiths’ qualified employment lawyers.*
  • 30-minute follow-up call with Shoosmiths to discuss the policy and to help troubleshoot any flex-related workforce issues you are experiencing
  • 60-minute call with a senior member of the Flexibility Works team to review your current recruitment practice and discuss best practice in recruiting flexibly.
  • Resources, including best practice checklist and example wording for recruitment adverts from Flexibility Works.

Cost £950 (exc VAT)**

* subject to your business being onboarded as a Shoosmiths’ client, agreeing to Shoosmiths’ terms of business, and going through the necessary conflict and legal checks. 
**This cost is based on the provision of a standard short-form policy.  Bespoke policy drafting can be provided at an additional cost which will be agreed with you in advance.
