Flexible working helps to alleviate poverty in Scotland.
One in five children in Scotland live in poverty and 65% of these come from families whose parents work.
Designing flexible jobs, from the point of hire is a big part of the solution to in-work poverty in Scotland, helping to raise living standards for the thousands who need to work flexibly.
The lack of flexibility in different industries, along with the perception that flexible jobs are somehow less credible or valuable results in large numbers of people working at a reduced skill level. Many of them are women. This is known as the poverty trap.
The Flexibility Works team is passionately committed to helping tackle this issue through our work with employers.
